空間を横断する金属の線、両端に伸びるチューブ。浮遊する冷たく小さな銅板は、空気中の水分を霜や結露へと変えていく。
「the plot thickens」とは事態が込み入り複雑さを帯びる局面で用いられる表現で、本作は乾いた日の夕立のあとに交わした「空気がthickだね」という会話と、その直後に見た霧を吐き出すオブジェの光景を出発点とし、その経験を異なる現象へと翻訳しなおす試みである。
「湿/乾」「温/冷」といった双極性は揺らぐ連続体として扱われ、緊張と緩和のリズムを生む。循環する水とラテックスの膜はわずかな温度差や湿度のぶれをはらみ、ゆっくり移動する水滴は知覚の輪郭をほどいていく。社会的慣習に内在する両義性を引き受けるこの構造は、二項に還元されない状態としてクィアな視点とも響きあい、曖昧さや遅さににじむケアを拾い上げ、個人的な感覚と社会的構造を細やかに編み結びつけようとする。

“The plot thickens” is an expression used when a situation becomes increasingly complex or layered. This work takes as its point of departure a conversation after a sudden summer shower on a dry day – “the air feels so thick” – and the sight that followed of an object releasing clouds of mist. From this moment, the work attempts to translate that sensory experience into a different set of phenomena.
Polarities such as wet/dry and warm/cold are treated not as oppositions, but as fluctuating continuums, generating rhythms of tension and release. Circulating water and latex membranes register delicate shifts in temperature and humidity, while slowly moving droplets loosen the contours of perception. By engaging with the ambivalence embedded in social conventions, this structure resonates with a queer perspective that affirms states irreducible to binary terms. It gathers forms of care that emerge through ambiguity and slowness, quietly weaving together personal sensation and social structure.
